Kalfresh’s Scenic Rim Agricultural Industrial Precinct (SRAIP) received a commendation at 2025 Queensland Awards for Planning Excellence.
This is industry recognition of the planning work required to realise our vision for an integrated precinct that co-locates agricultural value-adding with bioenergy production in a rural area.
SRAIP was recognised in the Climate Change & Resilience Categoryfor projects which excel in good design to create diverse, healthy communities and climate resilient developments.
Kalfresh, Epic Environmental led by Sam Redman, and a team of consultants worked closely with the Office of the Coordinator-General, the Scenic Rim Regional Council and Gaskell Planning Consultants to create the new SRAIP Development Plan which now sits within the region’s Planning Scheme and defines land uses to support and improve agriculture and value-adding of raw products; and embeds frameworks for renewable energy integration, emissions reduction and resource recovery.
Anchored by Queensland’s first large-scale farmer-led anaerobic digestion (AD) facility, the Precinct will generate renewable energy, bio-fertiliser, and decarbonised transport fuels. At the same time, it provides a strategic platform for agribusiness value-adding, regional employment, and long-term food system resilience.
Fully developed the Precinct is projected to generate approx. $140.5M operational GVA to the Scenic Rim economy and create up to 641 local construction jobs and 475 direct operational jobs.
